SENIOR SCIENTIST - FLAVOR APPLICATIONS

 

Our client is a world leader in the spice, flavor and seasonings industry.  They are seeking a Senior Scientist - Flavor Applications for their Technical Innovation Center located in the Northeast. 

DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Creative product development and product development support in Flavor
Applications.
• Commercialization of flavor products (understanding of processes and
operations for manufacture) and the application of consumer and general sensory
testing to flavor applications product development.
• Complex project management - planning and leading project teams, defining and
assessing project requirements, designing and managing experiments.
• Driving the investigation and discovery of new flavor technologies, keeping
abreast of latest literature, patents, and advances.
• Providing support as internal expert on projects performed in other groups
within the Company, with outside consultants, and / or with vendors
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with key customers and vendors at
all levels.
• Being a mentor and developer of talent for less experienced technical
colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10 - 15 years successful flavor applications experience across multiple
product areas, preferably in beverages or dairy required.
• Demonstrated ability to use various flavor systems and the impact of other
ingredients on flavor acceptance.
• BS degree required.
• MS or PhD in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition, or related field preferred.
• Strong scientific background, desire and willingness to learn.
• Strong project management, leadership and customer interaction/influencing
skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively through both written and oral
communications with customers and interdepartmental/cross functional groups and
business leaders as appropriate.
• Proven intellectual curiosity and self-starter, collaborative behavior, desire
to win, resourceful.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight timelines.


• Travel up to 25%.
